![]() ![]() This started when we were unable to get to our room after arriving due to the lifts not working, we weren’t going to walk to the 8th floor.! We then wanted to get to the Savage Garden Bar only to find out that the then working lifts only took us to the 10th floor when the Savage Garden Bar was on the 12th floor, eventually we were escorted to a dirty and smelly service lift (opposite room 852 behind an internal door) to get us to the Savage Garden Bar. All in all, we might consider stay again if the price is right.…Īfter booking this hotel and looking forward to a special weekend in London we were hugely disappointed with the hotel. The liquid soap and shampoo are from pump dispensers. The large size of the towels is great, but they’re thin. The shower was small, too, and the door was off its rollers, so didn’t close tightly. Although the bathroom was small, it had some counter space. Welcome features: empty mini fridge, two chairs (a side chair plus a desk chair), a luggage rack and hangars that can be removed from the closet. Wall-to-wall carpeting isn’t very sanitary. ![]() In fact, it looks like student accommodation. Our room was clean, but the décor is bland and dated. Our 7th floor room faced the back of the Four Seasons Hotel across the narrow street, but at least had a partial view of the Shard from the thin, tall window. We had a surprisingly long walk to our room from the elevators. (The Hilton app wouldn’t let us choose our room in advance.) Oddly we weren’t welcomed with the chain’s famous warm cookies, perhaps because we checked in late. Despite being Hilton Honors members, we didn’t get the high-floor room we had requested. The area is mainly a hotel enclave with few coffee shops or places to eat that aren’t in hotels. The hotel is only a few minutes from the Tower Hill tube station, which has lifts. We love this place and want to thank everyone there for making our family trip so special and homey. Many restaurants right around it (strongly recommend Zizzi Pizza for GF folks) and a gorgeous two-story lobby area where you can have drinks, sit and play games (which we did as a family), or just relax. Most of all, the Doubletree was the best home base at the end of the day. And from there, you can continue walking west and easily reach many popular and interesting sites. We walked easily to London Bridge and Borough Market just across the river. There are also boats down at the Thames that get you down river with ease. Beyond this, we were able to get everywhere very quickly, and we could walk to the Tower Bridge in a snap. They even had GF bread and a separate toaster! Mohammed went out of his way to ensure our safety. We didn't have to worry at all about finding GF food. We have two members of our family who have celiac disease, and Mohammed took extra good care of us food-wise. This is a first-class hotel in London!! The location is EXCELLENT, and everyone who works there is outstanding.
